Two arrested on suspicion of assault

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault after reports of an altercation in Totterdown early on Friday morning.

Police were called to Oxford Street at 5.22am where they arrested the suspects.

Both were then taken to hospital, though their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A section of Oxford Street was cordoned off, shutting off businesses such as The Banana Boat and The Bakehouse.

The Tesco Extra at the corner of Wells Road and St John’s Lane was also closed off, with cordons still in place at 11.30 on Friday.

Police said no further offenders are being sought, but urged the public to get in touch with any information quoting reference 5226140175.
