Community comes together to clean up streets

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Jan 24, 2017

Stapleton Road in Easton is a notorious fly-tipping hot spot.

Residents have long complained about overflowing industrial bins, dumped debris and drug detris but this week 15 volunteers from Muslims for Bristol took to the streets to collect litter and clean-up the road.

Mohammed El Sharif, who helped organise the clean-up, said: “The community and local businesses are very keen to keep Stapleton Road clean and change the image and perception of the area.

“We had people from all communities take part and the street looked completely different afterwards.”

Mr El Sharif says he hopes that the community clean up will become a monthly event as part of the city council’s Clean Streets Campaign.
