The convention is one of several Anime and Gaming Conventions, organised by the Animeleague, that take place across many major UK cities each year.

There are many other Anime and Gaming Conventions set to take place across the UK this year, including in Sheffield and London
Held at the Mercure Grand Hotel, the 2025 Bristol Convention will take place across Saturday and Sunday, with special guests including rapper Shao Dow (who flew from Japan to attend the convention) and Harajuku cyber-pop singer LELE.
Around 3,000 people are expected to attend the two-day event.

Alex, one of the operations managers for this year’s convention said: “The convention started because the manager (of the Animeleague) wanted to do something for the nerds, by the nerds.
“We started out really small but over the years, especially over the last about ten years, it’s really shot up in popularity.”

This convention is “by the nerds, for the nerds”
Alex continued: “I’m excited to see all the different types of cosplay, seeing what people attend as and seeing some of the events.
“This con is not as popular as the biggest cons, like the MCM Comic Con, but people know our name and we’re not charging extortionate prices to get in.”

Cosplay is a popular part of the convention
