Bristol-spotting in acclaimed new rom-com Film Club
It is, unfortunately, our city of Bristol that pulls apart two best friends in the acclaimed new BBC Three romantic comedy-drama, Film Club.
“Is it weird that I feel homesick?” questions Noa melancholically as he looks out onto the Floating Harbour while on the phone to Evie.
Noa, played by Nabhaan Rizwan, has just landed a dream job as a barrister, which is taking him from Manchester to Bristol, threatening the future of the pair’s weekly film club.
The club is a source of solace for Evie (played by Aimee Lou Wood), whose world has shrunk to her mum’s suburban home following mental health struggles and to whom Bristol represents the world unknown.
Filming for the six-part Film Club began in late 2024 and finished in early 2025.

Redcliffe Parade’s terraced houses were built for affluent merchants in the 18th century
The colourful frontages of Redcliffe Parade’s houses are the backdrop for Noa’s journey (presumably) to Bristol Bus Station, where he takes the long coach journey back up north.
Meanwhile, the University of Bristol Law Clinic on Berkeley Square in Clifton is the setting of an awkward mixer for the character’s new job.

The University of Bristol’s clinic offers free legal advice to members of the public in areas such as housing, employment and welfare benefits
A guardian reviewer described the series as “cute and deeply intelligent” and “brimming with insight”.
Speaking about the show, co-writer Wood said: “I want people to take away that you’re allowed to wobble in life and not know what you’re doing.
“There’s so much pressure in the time that we are living in, where everyone curates their lives on social media, and it encourages such comparison, which is the thief of joy.
“I’d love people to watch this and know that it’s OK to not have all the answers, and that it’s OK to move at your own pace.”
All episodes of Film Club are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
