Bristol as you’ve never seen it before in spectacular new video

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Mar 17, 2021

Swooping over the water beneath Pero’s Bridge, it’s clear from the first few frames of a new video of Bristol that this is going to be a special ride.

The camera then flies through one of the towers of the Clifton Suspension Bridge before taking the viewer to other locations including the Cumberland Basin, Cliftonwood, Queen Square and the Lloyds Amphitheatre.

Bristol: A Place by the River was made by Callum Cutler, a 22-year-old recent UWE Bristol graduate who lives in Horfield.

Currently working as a freelance videographer, drone operator and video editor, Callum shot the video to showcase his skills as well as celebrating his home city.

“For this video, my aim was to capture Bristol in a way that I hadn’t seen before,” Callum told Bristol24/7.

“I chose the famous landmarks of Bristol that would be known by the public and decided I would try and shoot angles that I hadn’t seen done before, such as flying the drone under Pero’s Bridge.”

Clocking in at just over a minute long, the video took Callum from January until March to shoot.

He would set out soon after sunrise every time the weather was sunny, ticking off a shot list for the video each time.

“It was a very cold process shooting at that time of the year,” Callum admitted.

But the result is spectacular.
