Becky Watts: Court rejects her killers appeal
The killers of Becky Watts have had their appeal rejected by the Court of Appeal.
Nathan Matthews and Shauna Hoare wanted to appeal against their against their sentences and convictions.
However, according to the Bristol Post, a single judge at the Court of Appeal has refused their legal bids to have the case heard in front of three judges.
A spokesman for the Court of Appeal told the paper that Matthews and Hoare had not been given permission to appeal.
However because the appeal was refused by a single judge they still can renew their appeal.
Nathan Matthews and Shauna Hoare, who were jailed last year for murder and manslaughter respectively, had applied for leave to the Court of Appeal.
Watts was killed in her St George home in a botched kidnap in February 2015. Matthews admitted suffocating her and taking her body back to his and Hoare’s home in Barton Hill before dismembering it and hiding it in a shed.
Hoare admitted being in Watts’ home at the time of the killing, but denied being involved.
Matthews, 28, Watts’ step-brother, was given life in prison with a minimum term of 33 years while Hoare, 21, was sentenced to 17 years.
Matthews’ and Hoare’s application to appeal had been sent by Bristol Crown Court to the Court of Appeal.
