UK’s largest adults-only ball pit arrives in Bristol
A kaleidoscope of colour explodes into the air as just a few of the 200,000 balls in the UK’s largest adults-only ball pit are thrown upwards by one excited guest.
Giant beach balls are hit from one end of the pit to the other, with the smiles on the faces of those taking part in Ball Mania just as big.

A thumping bass line more accustomed to being blasting out of the speakers at Motion fills the room, accompanied by the laughter of the adults who become kids again as soon as they take their first leap into the balls.
Bristol’s own version of the Sony Bravia advert is in The Lantern at the Colston Hall for one weekend only, brought here by a company from Manchester who are currently touring across the UK, with the balls sucked into a huge hoover at the end of each city’s stint for cleaning.

Loose objects need to be removed from pockets before the start of the half-hour sessions, and phones are advised to be set to loud to make them easier to locate if accidentally dropped or knocked into the knee-deep lake of balls.
A swan dive towards the camera seems to be the best momento of the session, beads of sweat swiftly appearing on most foreheads.
Among the 200,000 spheres is one yellow prize ball, the prize for finding the announcer in a strong Mancunian accent refuses to reveal but promises it will be “awesome”.
Until Sunday, half an hour of colourful escapism is available until for anyone over 18 for £8.25. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.colstonhall.org/shows/ball-mania/.
