In photos: Animals at Bristol Zoo enjoy the spring sunshine

By Ellie Pipe  Thursday Mar 26, 2020

While Bristol Zoo and Wild Place Project are closed to the public, their permanent residents are making the most of the sunny weather.

The two sites both shut their doors on Friday afternoon to help limit the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), but keepers, vets and other essential staff are still working hard to look after the animals.

Lynsey Bugg, curator of mammals at the zoo, said: “It’s certainly very strange not having our visitors here, we only usually close on Christmas Day, so it’s rather surreal. However, I’m very pleased to say that the animals are doing well and are enjoying this sunshine.”

Bristol Zoo and Wild Place will be posting regular updates videos and news via their social media channels while the country is in lockdown.
