Shop of the Week: Bristol Raw Dog, Southmead
Bristol Raw Dog is a family-run store focused on providing sustainable, good quality raw foods and pet supplies to their local community.
Located in Southmead, Rachael Chinnock and her family set up shop in May 2022 and have seen a steady rise in customers throughout the years.
“I think dog owners have started to realise the decline in dog health so I think they’re a bit more mindful of what they feed their dogs and we’ve seen our business go from strength to strength,” said Rachael.
The family first opened Raw Dog due to their passion for dog health and high-quality raw food.

The store stocks a limited supply of toys, harnesses and balls
Rachael added: “We’ve always fed our dogs a raw diet and we’ve been going all across the country for the last ten years trying to source food for our dogs, so we thought we’d put our money where our mouth is.”
Since opening, Raw Dog has become a local hub for a dog-loving community of owners, walkers and trainers.
With the rising cost of living, the store has seen a change in shopping habits for its customers, with more dog-owners only reaching for the necessities rather than extra pet supplies.

Despite this, business continues to do well and Rachael is currently in the process of expanding the business to a bigger store on the other end of Southmead Road.
The bigger store brings lots of new opportunities to stock a wider variety of pet supplies including dog beds and cat foods.
