New yoga studio and creative space opens

By Martin Booth  Monday Aug 24, 2020

The mission of Elevate “is to provide a platform for people to feel free within their body, to express and experience through a range of practices and artistic enquiry”.

The new yoga studio and creative space is now open in Cargo 2 at Wapping Wharf, running both in-studio and online classes and events.

On Saturday evening, Elevate is holding its first poetry and spoken word event with Aisha Marie, Olamiposi Ayorinde and Imogen Downes.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

The studio offers yoga, meditation, sound healing, one-to-one sessions, wellness workshops, spoken word and art events from a range of facilitators, teachers and practitioners.

Elevate founder Ella Riggs has taken over the space formerly home to Pure Yoga, where she worked as studio manager and teacher.

Amelia Hodge, owner of Pure Yoga, has left Wapping Wharf to focus on her digital yoga business.

Ella said: “It has been my absolute dream to open my own space. Having worked closely with the wonderful Amelia when the space was formally Pure Yoga, I fell in love with the area and community.

“I’m passionate about bringing movement, rest, wellness and art to Wapping Wharf, now more than ever!”

She added: “I realised both my art and yoga practice followed the same line of enquiry, just in different packaging: deep dives into the mind-body relationship, experiencing the body as a vessel to be enjoyed, challenged and understood.

“This forms the basis of my intuitive teaching style, reactive to the energy, needs and interests in the room.”
