Sandwich Sandwich’s second store

By Martin Booth  Thursday Sep 25, 2014

Sandwich Sandwich now have a second store on a stretch of Queen’s Road that has become known as a Bermuda Triangle for food businesses.

It’s a brave location to open in, but with a big amount of footfall it would appear that this area of Bristol should be a winner.

Yet that hasn’t always been the case, with a Gregg’s (which Sandwich Sandwich have replaced) and independents Clifton Deli and Munch Deli all closing since 2011, and the sign recently removed from Caffe Gusto just down the road.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Sandwich Sandwich  is owned by chef Nick Kleiner and his wife, Anita, who also own Cotham Sandwich Co. and Juniper restaurant next door.

The Queen’s Road cafe follows a similar model to their original home on Baldwin Street, with the addition of a seating area upstairs.

There are dozens of different sandwiches to choose from, alongside the popular scotch eggs, a salad cart, a few cakes, and tea and coffee.

Sandwich Sandwich has shown that it can do well in the city centre. Let’s see if it can break the curse of this new part of town.
