Italian restaurant confirms it will not be reopening
Grano has announced that it will not be reopening its Old Market site.
The restaurant shut its doors in June 2025 for refurbishment work but has now shared that the closure will be permanent.

Starting as a pop-up, Grano then expanded to a permanent restaurant on Old Market Street in 2022 and opened a stall at St Nick’s Market in 2025.
Grano served a variety of authentic Italian cuisine including handmade pasta; with the same team also running the well-loved Gigi’s Pizza which is next door.
Owner Alberto Noriega had said that Grano would soon reopen as “something faster, smarter and tastier than ever before”.
But in an Instagram post on Monday, the team said: “We feel the right decision is to expand our operations at Gigi’s (yes, we are the same family), which is currently thriving and in need of extra space for customer seating, events and food preparation.”
With the Grano stall in the Glass Arcade in St Nick’s still open, the Grano team said that “the spirit of Grano lives on… where we have truly found our dimension in a fantastic location”.
