Pub to reopen under new management in ‘full circle moment’
The Old Globe in Bedminster is set to reopen on Thursday under new management.
The new landlord, Mike Coe, who also runs The Old Castle Green in Old Market, is now returning to the bar he first worked in many years ago.
“I am thrilled to return to The Old Globe, a place that holds so many cherished memories for me,” he said. “Stepping back into the Globe feels like coming home.”

The pub has been shut since October 2025
Also in the Old Castle Green Pubs community are Coach & Horses in Old Market and Golden Cross in Cardiff, said to be the oldest gay bar in Wales.
The group describe themselves as an “active supporter of the LGBTQ+ community” and aim to make the East Street pub “a friendly, down-to-earth pub where diverse culture sits comfortably alongside great drinks and relaxed conversation”.
On Instagram, The Old Globe, taglined as “Bedminster’s Proudest Pub”, shared a video of their freshly refurbished bar area.

Mike’s team hope to bring the warm atmosphere of Old Castle Green to Bedminster and to revitalise The Old Globe’s event calendar and menu.
“I believe in the power of community and conversation, and I want The Old Globe to be a place where people gather not just to enjoy great drinks, but to build connections,” he added.
“I can’t wait to share our upcoming plans with everyone.”
The pub, which has been the site of a Globe pub for over 200 years, has been closed since its previous owners left in October 2025, just a few months after it had reopened in July.
