‘Real pasta’ from the team behind a popular Italian restaurant
Sandwiched between two popular stalls in St Nick’s Market is a new pasta bar that promises a daily supply of “real pasta made with real passion”.
A sister venture to Grano Kitchen on Old Market, the pasta bar with the same name opened in late May and has ever since been flooded with hungry pasta heads.
The Grano restaurant was born out of a former pop-up at Fishponds Food Assembly and specialised in all kinds of Italian food, including pizza, focaccia, pasta and more.

However, the market stall, positioned between Crafty Beans and Matina, exclusively caters for pasta needs with only a chosen few drinks additionally available on the menu.

On a recent morning, their pasta options included summer, amatricana and pesto options – all featuring freshly made rigatoni dunked in a range of diverse sauces, before being showered with generous toppings.
While operations at the market stall are in full swing, the team at Grano recently announced a temporary closure of their Old Market site, with a full refurbishment and brand new concept in the pipeline.
Owner Alberto Noriega, who also owns one-half of neighbouring Gigi’s Pizza, shared that both his other ventures were going “stronger and busier” than ever and the Grano restaurant would soon reopen as “something faster, smarter and tastier than ever before”.
The halt in operations at Grano’s main site, according to Noriega, gives the team a better chance to support the other two ventures and meanwhile, “cook up something totally new for Old Market”.
