Popular Park Street cafe changes its name

By James Booth  Monday Mar 30, 2026

Two years after opening on Park Street, a popular cafe has a new name.

Gather is now Hem – a play on the word for ‘home’ in several Scandinavian languages.

The Scandi-influenced Hem currently only has one home but the name change could also be a clue as to the opening of a second cafe.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“It felt like the right time for a change – a new name and identity that better reflects who we are, and where we’re heading,” said the Hem team on Instagram.

“From day one, our focus has been simple – people first.

“There’s nothing we love more than sharing our space, our coffee and our passion with you.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s walked through our doors – it means a lot that you choose to spend your time (and hard-earned money) with us.

“Why Hem? To us, a coffee shop is more than just somewhere to grab a drink – it’s a ‘third space’. A place that feels as comfortable and familiar as home.

“Somewhere you can settle in, be yourself and make genuine connections.

That’s exactly what we want Hem to be. A space where everyone is welcomed like a guest – just as if we were serving you from our own living room.

“We’ve got big plans for what comes next, and we’re excited to begin this new chapter with a name and brand that truly feels like us.”
