Gurt Wings open first restaurant in Bristol
The opening of the first Gurt Wings restaurant in Bristol came on the same day as Gurt Wings founder James Mitchell celebrated his birthday.
The business that began as a food van has now got permanent premises on Museum Street in Wapping Wharf.
Thursday evening saw the part-soft launch, part-birthday bash at the new site slinging Gurt Wings’ chicken wings, chicken strips, popcorn chicken and more, topped by a variety of their own sauces.
“From frying wings in my garage with friends to buying my first gazebo & unit to then moving onto a truck, a huge headquarters, having over 40 incredible hard working staff, 3 trucks & fixed sites,” Mitchell wrote on Instagram ahead of the party which saw Gardna on DJ duties.
Those three trucks are called Gurtha, Gurtrina and Algurt Einstein that are regulars at markets across Bristol including at Finzels Reach, the Harbourside, Temple Quay and Tobacco Factory.
The first Gurt Wings truck, known as Gurtrude, is now used by Danny’s Burgers, usually based at the Fierce & Noble brewery and taproom in St Werburgh’s.
“Huge thank you to everyone who supports us each and every day!” Mitchell added.
“We couldn’t do it without you!”
