Eatchu to be kitchen residents in new bar Lupe

By Martin Booth  Monday Oct 7, 2024

Asian-inspired pub grub is coming to a new bar in south Bristol.

Lupe on North Street will be welcoming Eatchu into their kitchen when they open.

The name of the new bar is inspired by the Latin for hop and wolf: ‘humulus lupulus’ and ‘lupus’.

Lupe is being opened by Emily Penney and Mike Fenlon who own Alpha Bottle Shop & Tap on East Street.

The former premises of the Old Bookshop in Bedminster are currently midway through a refurbishment ahead of the opening of the new venue.

Writing on Instagram, the Lupe team said: “We are INCREDIBLY excited to announce that our kitchen will be run by Bristol’s own Eatchu.

“They’ll be dishing up their classic gyoza and chicken karaage combos, alongside fresh new izakaya snacks and Asian-inspired pub grub.

“We cannot wait to serve fresh beer perfectly paired with Eatchu’s delicious dishes.”

Eatchu was originally founded as a market stall and now have permanent premises on Exchange Avenue next to St Nick’s Market and on the Clifton Triangle, as well as other locations within Wiper & True’s taproom in Lawrence Hill and a converted horsebox in Wapping Wharf.
