Boathouse bar & pantry opens in Harbour Inlet
The Boathouse is the latest food and drink business to join an increasingly diverse and interesting corner of town.
Located in the Harbour Inlet opposite the ss Great Britain, its outside tables and chairs overlook boats bobbing up and down and out across the water as the cross-harbour ferry plies its trade back and forth.
Opening next to Spoke & Stringer surf and bike shop, The Boathouse shares its neighbour’s minimalism with bare concrete floors and one exposed breezeblock wall. Most of the tables are made from wooden cable reels while reclaimed scaffolding poles hold up the back bar.
The bar itself is made from white tiles, with splashes of colour coming from painted pillars and the cushions placed on some of the chairs.
Wild boar salami and manchego cheese are among the options from the deli, split into cheese and cured meats, with boards available accompanied by antipasti and sourdough bread.
The Boathouse is an all-day affair, with pastries and cakes made by Herberts Bakery in Montpelier available from 8.30am and cocktails served into the evening.
Eight beers and ciders are available on tap including Guinness Dublin Porter, St Austell’s Korev lager, Aspall Ciderkyn and Thatchers Old Rascal, with more than 30 different wines.
