Cafe and creative studio to open second site in Bristol

By Mia Vines Booth  Wednesday Mar 13, 2024

A “creative studio powered by coffee” is due to open its second site in central Bristol.

Dareshack, a multi-functional space on Wine Street, is opening a new cafe midway down the Christmas Steps.

The new premises was previously home to Rice Box, a Chinese takeaway that occupied the site for 14 years before closing in 2017.

The Christmas Steps location will offer “a unique mix of speciality coffee and creative inspiration”, featuring an “exquisite coffee menu sourced from top-tier local and international roasteries”, alongside a curated selection of retail bags to take home.

Dareshack’s signature house blend, Triple Dare, is a collaboration with Triple Co coffee roasters, based in Montpelier.

Adda Cohn and Gui Petrini, the duo behind Dareshack, originally opened their first site in 2020 just before the height of the pandemic.

Their location on Wine Street acts as a cafe, studio, exhibition space and music venue.

They said the new site marks a “significant milestone” for the company, as “they continue to champion their mission of ‘ideas powered by coffee’ and reinvesting resources into creative projects”.

Gui added: “We are thrilled to expand our presence in Bristol and become part of the vibrant indie community on Christmas Steps.

“Every cup of coffee made here will be crucial to our mission of funding creativity with caffeine.”
