Premiere of festive film with Bristol connections
Bristol-based novelist Cally Taylor has two identities. As CL Taylor, she write dark psychological thrillers. Under her own name, she publishes romantic comedies. One of the latter, Home for Christmas, has just been adapted for the screen by indie producers JumpStart productions. It stars Bristolian actress April Pearson, who’s best known for playing Michelle Richardson in Skins. She also appeared in the rather fine teen horror flick Tormented.
The film is one of the first releases at Picturehouse cinemas through the innovative Ourscreen (see trailer for a full explanation), which allows punters to choose films they want to see on the big screen and buy tickets in advance. You can also catch the Bristol premiere at the Watershed at 1.30pm on Sun 7 December. This screening will be introduced by Cally Taylor and followed by a Q&A with director Jamie Patterson and members of the cast.
What’s it all about? The official blurb describes the film as a “modern-day fairytale” set in Brighton. It’s the story of 24-year-old Beth Prince (April Pearson) who yearns to meet Mr. Right. Hunky, well-travelled, intelligent new boyfriend Aiden (Matt Beveridge) appears to fit the bill. But as connoisseurs of romantic comedy will not need reminding, there are likely to be a few obstacles placed in the way of Happy Ever After.
