Mary Magdalene
Revisionist Biblical biopic with Rooney Mara in the title role
The Tomb Raider ‘reboot’ is the week’s big release, in both 2D and 3D formats. Sending the late Ms. Potter into a spinning frenzy beneath the topsoil, Peter Rabbit is here to relieve nippers of their pocket money as Easter approaches. The more religiously inclined will probably prefer the revisionist Mary Magdalene. Discerning arthouse punters, meanwhile, should flock to art world satire The Square.
Event cinema includes Disney’s mega-hit Beauty and the Beast with a live orchestra at the Colston Hall (this looks to be almost sold out, so grab tickets while you can) and Kathy Burke’s production of Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan, starring Jennifer Saunders.
If you really can’t wait to see Spielberg’s Ready Player One, the Showcase has a couple of early 3D preview screenings.
