Horror in the Caves: Hereditary
The scariest horror movie of 2018 comes to Redcliffe Caves
What’s this? A summer movie that isn’t a loud, star-bloated blockbuster or another bloody superhero romp? That’s right: low-budget horror flick Hereditary has been picking up some amazing reviews. The fact that this one is showing at the Everyman and Watershed as well as the multiplexes suggests it has some serious Get Out-style crossover appeal too.
Of course, if you actually crave another star-bloated blockbuster you only have to wait until Monday, when cinemas start previewing gender-swap heist flick Ocean’s 8.
Elsewhere, the Bristol Bad Film Club offers a Jurassic alternative with the absurd Tammy and the T-Rex; hip-hop doc A Way of Life gets its Bristol premiere; Jane Campion’s The Piano enjoys a well-deserved 25th anniversary restoration; and there’s plenty of cult cinema, ranging from the Coen brothers’ The Big Lebowski to a late-night screening of Mean Girls.
As usual, follow the links for further information, trailers and screening times and go here for our comprehensive film listings.
