The story of the The Mongol Derby: the longest and toughest horse race in the world. Strung along a network of 26 horse stations, the race stretches across 1,000 kilometers of Mongolian wilderness. Billed as “an epic equine adventure of no equal”, it was devised and organised by Bristol-based company The Adventurists. Let’s hope they give those poor nags a bit of a breather along the way.
This Ourscreen screening is followed by a Q&A with producer-director Ivo Marloh and Mongol Derby chief Kate Willings. Go here for further information and tickets. Incidentally, if you’re a metalhead and the music in the trailer seems familiar, that’s because it’s by Tengger Cavalry – Mongolia’s leading metal band (yes, there’s more than one), whose splendidly named founder Naturre G Ganganbaigaali provides the film’s theme tune. Mmm: throat singing and powerchords. Cool, huh? Don’t believe me? Check ’em out here:
