A Dardennes-style neorealist coming-of-age drama centred on Pio Amato – a 14-year-old Romani boy growing up on the grim side of the southern Italian town of Gioia Tauro.
Living by his wits alongside Italians, African immigrants and his fellow Romani, streetwise Pio has only his older brother Cosimo to guide him. But then Cosimo is arrested and Pio finds himself obliged, somewhat prematurely, to fill his boots.
