Bristol’s most luxurious cinema ever gets ready to open
Your eyes are not deceiving you. That is a bed at Bristol’s newest cinema that is opening its doors for the first time on Thursday.
The Odeon Luxe will contain eight screens, including a fully immersive surround sound screen as well as our city’s first IMAX screen since 2007.
The cinema at Cabot Circus occupies the space used until December 2023 by Showcase Cinema de Lux on the top floor of the shopping centre.

The entrance lobby will feel familiar to anyone who visited Showcase Cinema de Lux
Odeon Luxe will open to the public on Thursday the day after the closure of the Odeon on Union Street, which had been open for 88 years.
Odeon will be offering £4 tickets for all screenings at its new location until February 22.

Two person pods offer comfy viewing for couples
An order and collect system means that ticket and food collection is largely self-service, with customers being able to pre-order snacks from an app before they arrive.
The new cinema has a large offering of refreshments, including a Costa and Coca Cola Freestyle machine, hot food, and a bar.

Odeon promise to “make movies better”
Alongside the bed seats are ‘pod seats’, where cinemagoers can also share a more cosy viewing experience.
One of the new screens contains a surround sound system with more than 50 speakers, as well as a Sense laser screen which promises “full cinematic immersion”.

The IMAX screen is Bristol’s first since 2007
The IMAX screen at the cinema measures a giant 9m by 16.5m; stretching from wall to wall and ceiling to floor.
According to IMAX, every seat in the theatre is in the “sweet spot”.
From July, cinemagoers will be able to watch Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, the first movie to be shot entirely on IMAX film.
