Matthew Vaughn’s sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle defied all those shitty reviews to score the director’s biggest ever opening at the UK box office. Its £8.5m haul is twice as much as that of the first Kingsman. IT was knocked off the top of the chart, but now ranks as the most successful horror film ever released in the UK. Another record was broken further down the chart, where Dunkirk is now sinking fast but should eclipse The Dark Knight Rises to become Christopher Nolan’s most successful film and claim 17th place in the all-time UK top 20. Could it go one higher and topple Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace? We shall see. But it was double fault for Borg Vs McEnroe, as nobody seemed remotely interested in this period tale of tennis rivalry, which took just £100,000 and failed to chart.
