Paul Foot to begin his new UK tour in Bristol
The veteran absurdist Paul Foot’s 2022 show Dissolve was emblematic of a new direction for him, not only as a comic, but also as a person.
With numerous characteristically esoteric diversions along the way, its central tenet unfolded through an exploration of a single point in his life; a moment that, he believes, ended decades of depression.
The show has now been recorded and released globally as a comedy special, and its success has brought him an expanded fanbase, or rather, in his own terms – a “guild of connoisseurs”.
is needed now More than ever
Foot is now back with a brand-new show for 2026, once more co-written and directed by his long-term collaborator, Aaron Kilkenny-Fletcher.
After a full Edinburgh Fringe run, he will be taking The Future on a UK tour through the rest of the year, beginning with a date at Tobacco Factory Theatres on September 13.
“Remember when people were excited for the future?”, he contends. “With visions of jetpacks, friendly robots wheeling around, and solar-powered bidets. Well, we don’t have visions like that anymore, do we?
“But the universe is not over. The light has not gone out. Here’s a candle in the dark. Contagious and whispering. And you can take it with you when you leave.”
