Zubieta x Pardicolor Upfest collaboration to raise funds for big cat conservation
Ahead of Upfest’s return on May 15, Australian-based creative conservation initiative Pardicolor have announced a collaboration that will be featuring as part of the two-week street art festival; the largest of its kind in Europe.
Bristol-based surrealist artist Marta Zubieta was recently awarded a grant from the Pardicolor Creative Arts Fund to support the development of her work.
Amongst the pieces she has created since then are a series of digital illustrations in which species under threat of ecological collapse find new – and unlikely – habitats from the human world.

She has now been selected by Upfest as one of the artists who will be creating a live mural during the event, it has been announced.
The new work, Jungle Tea Time, will be painted during May 27-29, and visitors will be welcome to witness Zubieta’s artistic practice in action.
As an artist, the vibrant and often humorous style of Zubieta’s “pastel-neon universe” borrows from retro and tropical culture, exploring “millennial life, from love and anxiety to dreams and technology”.
Alongside the mural, Pardicolor will be releasing a limited series of prints of her work, with 100 per cent of profits donated to big cat conservation in Asia.
