Traffic speeds in Bristol hit rock bottom
14.3 miles per hour. That’s the average speed on Bristol’s A-roads which have unsurprisingly been named as the slowest in the country.
In the latest in a never-ending succession of reports from another campaign group, Bristol has been picked out for it’s commuting woes.
Travel speeds on main roads at peak times are now worse than London, while bus journeys are taking longer and longer.
The report, published by bus campaign group Greener Journeys, blames the slow-down on delivery vehicles and Uber cars – of which there are now 200 in Bristol, apparently.
But it doesn’t mention the continuing roadworks surrounding the MetroBus project and Bristol’s arena, the closure of Prince Street Bridge and the remodelling of the city centre.
However, it does warn that traffic is expected to grow by 55 per cent over the next 15 years, and if things don’t get better people might stop taking buses.
