Thatchers inks five-year deal with Glasto

By Laura Collacott  Monday Apr 18, 2016

Cider makers Thatchers, headquartered just outside Bristol at Sandford, have agreed a deal that will see them become the Official Cider of Glastonbury Festival for the next five years.

Four craft cider bars across Worthy Farm will be selling a range of the company’s traditional ciders to festival-goers, including Heritage, Big Apple, Cheddar Valley, and Thatchers Gold. This year the festival is set to attract 135,000 ticket holders, staffed by over 40,000 people.

Martin Thatcher, the fourth generation to continue the cider-making tradition said: “We’re a local family, proud to be making a local product. The response that we have had to our presence at Worthy Farm has been unbelievable, so we are absolutely delighted to be signing a new agreement with Michael and Emily that will see Thatchers as the Official Cider of Glastonbury for another five years.”

Festival founder Michael Eavis said on a trip to the Thatchers cider mill at Myrtle Farm: “Our festival goers from all over the world are treated to a taste of the West Country during June, with many fantastic local companies sharing in the atmosphere. Having a great Somerset cider served across Worthy Farm is a real part of the experience.”
