Haines Watts joins the Better Business Network

By Bristol24/7  Friday May 17, 2024

In an ever-changing business environment, it certainly pays to have a business partner that not only understands the demands of running a business but is focussed on ensuring that you are fully compliant and taking all opportunities from the constant changes in tax legislation. With the likely change in government later this year, it is vital you have advisers who are at the cutting edge commercially, technically and pragmatically.

Haines Watts is a firm of chartered accountants and business advisors based in Bath Street, just by Bristol Bridge. The firm specialises in advising and supporting business owners, entrepreneurs and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, giving clients access to an array of expertise and knowledge.

Since moving to larger premises in Bath Street in 2016 the office has seen major growth, with a growth in turnover of 400%. More recently, they have seen the introduction of a people manager and three directors and have acquired the Haines Watts Exeter office, increasing group turnover to more than £7million and staff to nearly 90.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Matthew Bracher, managing director, says “Bristol is a hub that has some brilliant businesses offering pioneering, nationally relevant products and services. We are proud to support these businesses by delivering the quality advice, excellent service and nurturing the trusted and valued relationships we have built with our clients and within our local community.”

Aside from their growing client base, Haines Watts has been building relationships with local schools and colleges, to assist with their annual intake of apprentices and trainees. One such partnership with St. Brendan’s sixth form college has been flourishing for several years, resulting in past students becoming fully qualified accountants, mentors to new apprentices and occupying client manager roles.

Matthew Bracher added “our accredited talent development programmes are a great opportunity for young talent to learn on the job and avoid the significant debt of university. We are interested in being able to train young talent in the values and practices we expect at Haines Watts – it is rewarding to see them develop into people who can really advise and help other people. Having a degree doesn’t always give those personal skills that we look for.”

The future looks bright for Haines Watts Bristol, with a five year business and people development plan now in place which will secure growth, a next generation of directors and the long term security of the business, ensuring staff and clients continue to benefit from the firm’s core values of valuing relationships, showing passion and being authentic in everything it does.
