Counter Culture joins the Bristol24/7 Better Business network
Counter Culture Drinks is delighted to announce its membership of the Bristol24/7 Better Business network.
Counter Culture is an independent soft drinks brewery based in south Bristol.
The company exists to challenge the idea that growth must come at the expense of quality, transparency or being a net positive for society.
Counter Culture’s range of organic kombucha sodas is produced using its own green tea kombucha culture, alongside fruit juices and botanicals.

Each recipe is designed to prioritise flavour, balance and restraint, rather than relying on excess sugar or heavily processed ingredients to do the heavy lifting.
The aim is simple: drinks people genuinely want to drink, made in a way that stands up to scrutiny.
The brand harnesses Bristol’s creative energy by working with local illustrator Zubieta on its vibrant labels. The artworks include AI of the Storm, Look Up and Try Dry®, the latter released to mark Counter Culture’s role as the official kombucha of the Dry January® challenge.
The company’s ownership structure is distinctive. Driven by an ambition to raise £1m for charity over their lifetimes, the founders launched the business by donating 51 per cent of its shares to causes that matter to them, including Alcohol Change UK and Bristol-based social enterprise Billy Chip.
The remaining shares are owned by employees and founders.
Counter Culture is also a certified B Corp and a member of 1 per cent for the Planet, donating to Bristol-based charity the Soil Association.
Rather than chasing novelty or constant escalation, the brand advocates moderation, honesty and better everyday choices. In a category often driven by hype and overstatement, Counter Culture aims to earn trust by being clear about what its drinks are – and what they are not.

Joining Bristol24/7’s Better Business Network reflects Counter Culture’s desire to be part of a wider community of organisations actively rethinking the role business plays in society. Bristol’s strong tradition of independent thinking, environmental leadership and values-led enterprise closely mirrors the company’s own approach.
As Counter Culture continues to grow, its ambition is not simply to sell more drinks, but to help reset expectations of what a drinks business can be: well made, responsibly produced and aligned with the values of people who care about what they consume and who they support.
