Meet the Bristol AI helping residents find free meals, services and local support
Finding the right support in Bristol — whether it’s a free meal, a barber, a taxi, or a community service — shouldn’t be hard. But for many residents, knowing what’s available and where to start can feel overwhelming.
That’s the problem Nyata AI was built to solve.
Nyata AI is a Bristol-made platform that uses conversational AI to connect people with real-time services across the city. Think of it as a community companion in your pocket: ask a question, and Nyata’s AI assistant helps you find what you need — from booking a barber or beauty salon, arranging a taxi, finding a cleaner, to discovering free meals from charities and organisations giving back to the community.
Born in Bristol, built for Bristol
The platform was created by Ibrahim Maina, a UWE Bristol graduate and Innovate UK Talent & Skills Connect Partner. The idea started during his time studying IT Management for Business at UWE, where he saw first-hand how technology could make city life easier — especially for people who aren’t sure where to turn.
“I work in welfare support, and I kept seeing the same thing: people who needed help but didn’t know what was available,” Ibrahim says. “Nyata was built to bridge that gap — not just for vulnerable people, but for anyone in Bristol who wants to connect with their city.”

How it works
Nyata AI is available as a free app on both iOS and Android. Once downloaded, users can chat with the AI assistant to:
• Book beauty services — barbers, beauty salons for nails and hair, and more
• Arrange a taxi with live GPS tracking
• Find a cleaner for your home or business
• Find free meals and community support from verified charities and organisations giving
back to the community
• Discover local businesses and services across Bristol
Bristol is one of the most diverse cities in the UK, and Nyata AI was built with that in mind. The assistant understands most foreign languages spoken across the city — so whether you ask in Spanish, Somali, Arabic, Polish, or any other language, Nyata responds with relevant Bristol support in English.
The platform also features a community chat where Bristol residents can connect, share tips, and even play mini-games together.

For local businesses and service providers
Nyata isn’t just for residents. Bristol-based businesses, charities, and service providers can list on the platform to reach new customers and the people who need them most. Whether you’re a sole trader, a community organisation, or a growing local business, Nyata offers a direct channel to engaged Bristol users.

A platform with purpose
Nyata AI is developed by Nyata Ltd, a Bristol-based company registered at UWE Bristol’s Student Venture space. The platform is ICO registered and backed by Innovate UK’s Talent & Skills Connect programme — reflecting a commitment to responsible, community-first technology.
Whether you’re a resident looking for support, a professional offering services, or a charity wanting to reach more people — Nyata AI is designed to make Bristol work better for everyone.
