The Burnt Orange Heresy

Director
Giuseppe Capotondi
Certificate
15
Running Time
98 mins

Slick, charming, slumming art critic/con-artist James Figueras (Claes Bang – y’know, from The Square and the Beeb’s Dracula) has just hooked up with enigmatic American Berenice Hollis (Elizabeth Debicki) in Milan. Stinking rich art dealer art dealer Joseph Cassidy (Mick Jagger) then summons James to his villa on Lake Como and proposes a mutually beneficial task. All our boy has to do is pilfer a hugely valuable painting from legendary reclusive artist, Jerome Debney (Donald Sutherland), who just happens to reside on the Cassidy estate.

Unveiled at the Venice Film Festival to mixed reviews, this Ripley-esque art heist thriller boasts Mick Jagger’s major first screen performance in nearly 20 years. (The Man from Elysian Fields, remember? Of course not. Nobody does.)
