This sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s big-budget 2013 monster movie is telly veteran (Spartacus, Buffy, Daredevil, etc) Steven D. DeKnight‘s feature debut as director, with the lauded Mexican chap retaining producer duties.

You’ll recall, obviously, that ‘orrible giant beasties named Kaiju snuck through an inter-dimensional portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean to terrorise puny humans, who fought back with huge mind-controlled robots known as Jaegers. It’s now ten years on and John Boyega, of Star Wars fame, takes up the battle as the son of the character played by Idris Elba in the first film. The Kaiju are back and – you guessed it – bigger and badder. To complicate matters further, a Jaeger has gone rogue.
