Lumbered with a title that makes it sound like one of those cheap’n’tacky Syfy features, this futuristic disaster flick certainly seems appropriately daft, in the Armageddon tradition. In the future, mankind unites against climate change and launches a network of ‘geoengineering’ satellites to stave off catastrophe.
But quicker than you can say “How exactly does that work then, eh?”, the system goes bonkers, threatening a gargantuan, planet-engulfing storm. Now it’s up to rufty-tufty Gerard Butler and astronaut chums to nip into orbit and fix the bloody thing. Principal photography on Independence Day producer Dean Devlin‘s directorial debut actually began way back in 2014 and it’s been repeatedly delayed, which doesn’t bode especially well.
