Les Misérables

Director
Tom Hooper
Certificate
12A
Running Time
158 mins

Finally released in 2012, the first big-screen version of the enduringly popular stage musical based on Victor Hugo’s novel had been in the works ever since 1988, when Alan Parker was attached to the project.

With Tom (The King’s Speech) Hooper at the helm, Les Mis was filmed on location in England and France. The impressive cast includes Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert and Anne Hathaway as Fantine. Its USP is that the performers all sang their parts live rather than miming to a pre-recorded soundtrack.
