Who knew that 2008 horror flick The Strangers needed a sequel? Or that we’d have to wait a decade to see it on screen? The original, you’ll recall, was one of a slew of English-language knock-offs of ace 2006 French home invasion thriller Them, with Liv Tyler being menaced by masked psychos in an isolated North Carolina holiday cottage.
That film’s writer/director Bryan Bertino has written the sequel, which is directed by Johannes Roberts of 47 Metres Down killer shark survival thriller fame, and boasts more of the same. This time, plot contrivance has a family staying in a secluded and deserted trailer park, where they’re stalked by a trio of masked psychopaths. Some enthusiasts reckon this is better than the original thanks to its knowing satirising of ’80s horror cliches.
