Dwayne Johnson + beasties = licence to print money. Yep, fresh from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and before he starts work on – groan! – Jumanji 2, the former Mr. The Rock reunites with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and San Andreas (there’s a sequel to that in the works too) director Brad Peyton for this video game adaptation/King Kong knock-off.

Our slap-headed hero plays a withdrawn, caring primatologist who’s best mates with an albino gorilla named George. Alas, one of those pesky genetic experiments mutates the unfortunate critter, causing him to grow to gargantuan proportions and come over all cross. If you’re not already laughing, the really bad news is that a wolf and croc have undergone similar embiggening and now the three of them are rampaging across America in a battle of the apex predators. Luckily, boffin Naomie Harris might just be able to come up with an ‘antidote’. Never mind the science, just feel that rampaging…
