Remember Space Dogs? Or Space Dogs: Adventure to the Moon? Of course you don’t. This latest installment in the the revoiced Russian animated canine astronaut franchise has space pooches Ocean, Belka and Strelka taking a detour on their return from Saturn to find a UFO attempting to steal all of Earth’s water.
Factual note: the unsung doggy heroes of the real Soviet space programme didn’t volunteer to be blasted into space, nor were they rewarded with the simple joy of poking their heads out of the window to allow their ears to be blown back by those G-Forces. Returning them safely to Earth wasn’t exactly a priority for the boffins, either. As a result, no fewer than 23 spacehounds perished in the years after WWII. But, er, don’t tell your kids, eh?
