Yet another entry in the silvery screen genre targeting the lucrative grey pound, Edie is at least not yet another of those dreadful light comedies with the usual crowd of twinkly-eyed oldsters.
Instead, it stars Sheila Hancock as a recently widowed, bitter old boot of an octogenarian whose daughter is trying to bung her into a home. But Edie has other ideas and sets off to clamber up a Scottish mountain. The director is Simon Hunter, making his first film since the very different sci-fi action flick Mutant Chronicles a decade ago.
