One for old-school cineastes, who’ll be stroking their beards with delight each time they spot one of the many references, this is the story of serious young Étienne Tinan (Andranic Manet), who pitches up at film school in Paris and throws himself into the bohemian student lifestyle. Lengthy discussions about film, poetry and politics ensue as they all party like it’s 1968.

Be warned that if you’re apt to find this stuff rather tiresome, you may concur with The Guardian‘s damning verdict: “A bunch of attractive young people study film, quote poetry and have sex, in a black and white drama fatally lacking narrative drive and passion”.
