Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist

Director
Lorna Tucker
Certificate
15
Running Time
83 mins

A documentary about British fashion designer and septuagenarian ‘punk icon’ Dame Vivienne Westwood.

The title suggests a hagiography, but Dame Viv herself has fallen out big time with director Lorna Tucker, dismissing her film as ‘mediocre’ and complaining that it fails to focus sufficiently on her political activism. This makes it potentially more interesting for punters who are less persuaded by Westwood’s saintliness (see all those Private Eye stories about her tax affairs and autobiography, for example).
