The CGI animation from Illumination, the studio that gave us the likes of Minions and The Secret Life of Pets, does the Zootropolis thing by being set in a world of talking beasts.
Matthew McConaughey voices a koala impresario named Buster Moon whose theatre has fallen on hard times. So he decides to launch a reality TV-style singing contest in the hope of clearing his debts and reviving the business. If all you crave from animation is heavily anthropomorphised animals singing and dancing to pop hits from the ’80s to the present day – and, let’s face it, experience has shown this to be a winning formula – Sing delivers in spades.
