UWE Bristol climbs 26 places in Guardian University Guide
UWE Bristol has climbed 26 places in the Guardian University Guide 2026, making it one of the top climbers nationally and retaining fourth place in the South West.
The university rose from 64th in 2025 to 38th this year, with seven subjects ranked in the UK Top 10. These include anatomy and physiology, paramedic science, geography, philosophy, graphic design, product design and film production & photography.
UWE Bristol’s anatomy and physiology subject area, which covers biomedical science and sports rehabilitation, ranked first in the UK out of 26 universities, achieving a perfect score of 100 and a 97 per cent career prospect rate after 15 months.

Professor Steve West, vice-chancellor at UWE Bristol, credited the achievement to the dedication of staff, partners and students.
He said: “This is a really positive start to the new academic year. As well as the jump in the overall table, we’re pleased to see many of our subjects standing out among the best in the country.
“This significant climb in the rankings is down to the hard work and dedication of our staff members, external partners and students co-creating outstanding learning experiences.”
