From budgeting to the best clubs in the city: Bristol24/7’s Student Guide is back

By Isabel Fraser  Tuesday Sep 23, 2025

To all students, welcome (back) to Bristol!

Having recently graduated, after three years in this wonderful city, you are in for a year of growth, opportunities and countless memories.

Whether you are new to the city, a returning second-year or a seasoned Bristol pro, I hope Bristol24/7’s Student Guide helps you get this new chapter off to a wonderful start – whatever that might look like for you.

No two students’ lives are alike. Whether you enjoy book clubs, nightclubs, pub golf, real golf, working out or working in the ASS (more on that later), there’s something here for everyone.

Maybe you want city history, budget tips or the best student nights? If so, you’re in the right place.

Our free guide collects voices from current and recent students at the University of Bristol, the University of the West of England, BIMM Institute, dBs Institute and other Bristol institutions.

It includes reflections from international, working, trans and postgraduate students. I hope you find a story that resonates with you.

Uni really is your story to write. Be open-minded and say yes to things that are out of your comfort zone.

That being said, don’t be afraid to say no. It is easy to think that, especially during freshers’ week, you need to be out doing something at all hours of the day (and night). Make sure to take some time for yourself amid the inevitable chaos.

A note for freshers: it’s okay if things don’t feel right immediately. Be patient—it may take days, weeks or months but, when you least expect it, Bristol will feel like home.

Good luck, and keep an eye on Bristol24/7’s website and social media (@bristol247) for more information on Bristol throughout the year.

For now, enjoy soaking in all this beautiful city has to offer!
