Bristol Rovers named South West and Wales community football club of the year

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Apr 28, 2021

For delivering “some amazing, life-changing work” over the last 12 months, Bristol Rovers have been named the EFL’s south west and Wales community club of the year.

It’s a tremendous accolade for the club, who have been recognised for their outstanding work in the community at the end of an unprecedented 12 months.

During the pandemic, staff and players from Rovers provided critical support across the city, including delivering food parcels, and visiting fans who were isolated and suffering from loneliness.

Bristol Rovers Community Trust were also instrumental in the return of the club’s women’s team, the Gas Girls, who are set to win promotion in their second season as a club.

Bristol Rovers Community Trust CEO and Gas Girls chairman, Adam Tutton, tweeted that he was “absolutely over the moon” to win the award.

He said: “Congratulations to every member of our staff that work so hard to change lives for the better. Thank you.”
