Gloucestershire win their first T20 Blast title
Bristol sporting history was made under the floodlights of Edgbaston when Gloucestershire won the T20 Blast title for the first time.
Victory in the final was even more sweeter as it was against Somerset, who Gloucestershire absolutely demolished, bowling out their fierce local rivals for 124 before chasing that total for the loss of just two wickets.
Finals day in Birmingham on Saturday started for the Shire with another convincing eight-wicket semi-final win against Sussex before defeating the defending champions, who they had already beaten twice in the competition this season.
In Gloucestershire’s first final since 2007, David Payne and Jack Taylor both took three wickets, helped by some exceptional fielding.
And in the run chase, openers Miles Hammond scored an unbeaten 58 and Cameron Bancroft scored 53, with Ollie Price (7*) hitting a six to win the match and help Mark Alleyne’s men home, prompting wild celebrations from the men in yellow.
