Photographer of the month: Lee Ramsey

By Bristol24/7  Monday Sep 5, 2016

Lee Ramsey is a self-taught Bristol-based photographer who has a passion for black and white photography and Spanish sunsets.

“I got into photography when I was 11-years-old. I can remember having an old film camera and I took myself out taking photos of old buildings.

“When I took the film to get processed I was precise to the lady; I wanted the images in black & white.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

“Seven days later (which felt like ages at that age) I was overjoyed with the results and that’s when I fell in love with black & white images.”

“I took a break from photography to train as a hair stylist but I found my photography passion again when I turned 30 and moved to Ibiza for a few years.

“In the beautiful town of Santa Eulalia everywhere was a landscape and I love a sunset. I wanted to capture these images so I bought myself a digital camera.

“After just a few months it became addiction; I couldn’t stop taking pictures on a daily basis landscape, sunsets and people.”

“I found that I also liked shooting candid photography, catching people in a moment.

“Three years ago I moved to Bristol. I love the diverse culture of the city and especially the music scene.

“Music is another big passion of mine and an online music magazine took me under their wing. I started to enter the pit at gigs with my camera. And this is my dream combining photography and music.”

“I’m feel proud that I am self-taught. I admire other peoples work especially a chap called Kevin Cummins. I particularly like the work he did with the Stone Roses and Joy Division.”
