My Bristol Favourites: Billy Fuller
Billy Fuller makes up one-third of the band Beak> and has played bass guitar for acts including Massive Attack and Robert Plant.
On Tuesday, Billy will be DJing at the Invada Christmas party at the Lousiana, which will also feature live music from Litronix and Lewis Floyd Henry.
These are Billy’s top-five Bristol favourites:
The donkey slide underneath the Suspension Bridge

“Not the one by the Clifton Observatory, nor the bigger one further along the Avon Gorge. I mean the one directly underneath the Suspension Bridge. I’ve been stopping there to have a sandwich or a drink all my life. It’s a truly beautiful spot. Get on to the top bit if you dare, watch the pandemonium of cars on the other side of the river whilst sitting in solitude with a limp cheese and pickle sarnie. Pure bliss!”

“Tom and Scott are good friends and they let me work there for a bit. Friendly Records is a beautiful shop on North Street and they’ve always got something in there that you haven’t heard before that’ll spin your lid. Get off Spotify, kids.”
The Golden Guinea

“I love the Golden Guinea. It looks old and it smells old. Good beer and you can sit and imagine you’re a pirate in it. This gets easier to do the more you have to drink.
The Strawberry Line

The Cheddar Valley Line became known as the Strawberry Line because of the volume of strawberries that it carried to London and Birmingham markets – photo: The Strawberry Line
“The Strawberry Line is a brilliant cycle ride. Start at Yatton (just three stops from Temple Meads) and ride all the way to Cheddar via the Thatchers cider empire. It’s beautiful. The Strawberry Line Cafe at Yatton station is lush too.”
